Communication skills are fundamental to our forming and maintaining relationships, to understanding the situation, being mana enhancing and collaborating on plans to help. We:

• grow a range of communication skills (verbal and non-verbal) and styles and adapt communication to the needs and preferences of those we are working with
• provide a clear explanation of what we are doing and why, explain where we are going, and are able to respectfully discuss the impacts of harm and abuse on tamariki and rangatahi balanced with the importance of building resiliency and strengths
• are comfortable talking about things that are difficult and are able to manage and resolve conflict or confusion when we don’t agree or understand each other.
